Colbie Caillat, "All of You"

Colbie Caillat, "All of You" (Universal Republic)
Michelle Obama's favorite rapper, Common, makes a guest appearance on Caillat's third album, which follows her chart-topping "Breakthrough." The singer told Billboard, "I still incorporate all the styles that I love that were on 'Breakthrough' and 'Coco,' but it's a new chapter. I've experienced more and I've written with new songwriters who are really talented . . . It's like a full-on summer album." She told Artisan News one of her favorites on the album has more of a "doo-wop/reggae kind of feel."
Billboard found that it offers "a little more wisdom, balance and musical maturity" that her previous efforts while the Entertainment Weekly awarded the album a B-plus, writing, "The Malibu songbird's sound - full of carefree acoustic strums and beach-ready romance - is built for blandness, so her greatest struggle has always been breaking through all that aggressive pleasantness. Luckily, her third album, 'All of You,' proves there's more to her than a smile and a hair toss."
